Eldin Jakupovic has spent enough time collecting splinters on the substitute’s bench for one career. Therefore, with the goalkeeper seemingly set to leave relegated Hull City this season, his chances of regular first-team football should be the primary consideration.
Though you could hardly forgive the one-time Swiss international for being tempted to continue his career in the Premier League. HITC sources have told us that Swansea City, as well as Leicester, Watford and Crystal Palace, are all keen to hand Jakupovic a top flight lifeline this summer.
The 32-year-old can certainly cut it in the Premier League. Cementing his status as first-choice after Marco Silva took over at the turn of the year, Jakupovic performed heroics in between the sticks on occasions – although Hull’s shoddy defending ensured that was not enough to keep them up.
However, Jakupovic will not need reminding that 2016/17 was by far his most involved season in The Tigers’ starting XI. After all, the one-time Leyton Orient loanee was seen as a back-up option under the stewardship of Steve Bruce, playing just nine league games in three years prior to The Geordie’s resignation last summer.
Therefore, he should resist the temptation to continue his career with Swansea City. After all, there’s no suggestion that Lukas Fabianski, one of the most consistent goalkeepers in the Premier League since his move from Arsenal in 2014, is going anywhere in the transfer window.

Furthermore, the departures of Gerhard Tremmell and Mark Birighitti suggest that Jakupovic would once again be warming the bench in South Wales.
Therefore, perhaps he should choose Sunderland instead – despite the recently relegated Black Cats being unable to offer top flight football.
Sky Sports claimed recently that The Wearsiders were monitoring Jakupovic with Jordan Pickford likely to depart. Therefore, they will be in need of a new number one regular starts should be more important than Premier League status for this late-bloomer.
