It was a sad day for Liverpool on Saturday.
Jurgen Klopp put his side through their paces for the last time at Melwood ahead of their move to Kirkby.
This had been Liverpool’s training centre for the past 60 years.
But the ‘ultra-modern facilities’ at Kirkby means that the Premier League champions will be training there, alongside members of the club’s academy, in future.
A number of Liverpool players reacted to the last-ever training session at Melwood yesterday but here is Alisson’s tribute.
The Brazilian goalkeeper, a £66 million signing in 2018, wrote on Instagram: “Last day at Melwood! I’ll keep some nice memories of this place.”
On the pitch, Liverpool will hope that their last session yields a win this evening.
Klopp’s side visit Manchester City in the knowledge that a victory would put them back to the top of the Premier League table.
Pep Guardiola’s side haven’t been in a rich vein in form as of late but Virgil van Dijk’s absence means that City, champions in 2018 and 2019, will be narrow favourites to trump the title holders later today.
