Everton face Serie A side Atalanta in the Europa League.
It is make or break time for Everton striker Sandro Ramirez as the Toffees go up against Italian outfit Atalanta in the Europa League on Thursday night.
The Liverpool Echo claims interim manager David Unsworth is likely to rotate his squad in order to give a number of players on the fringes a chance to shine, if he is still in charge by that point.
The report claims 22-year-old striker Ramirez is in line for game time, alongside other out-of-favour stars such as Davy Klaassen and Nikola Vlasic – with the latter failing to appear under Unsworth recently.
That could see Spaniard Ramirez, who joined the Toffees from La Liga side Malaga in the summer, start up front as he struggles to oust Oumar Niasse, Wayne Rooney and Dom Calvert-Lewin who remain ahead of him in the pecking order.
Making 12 appearances in all competitions and starting six of those, Ramirez has struggled to adapt to English football and is yet to find the back of the net for the Merseyside club.
If Ramirez is to reinvigorate his burgeoning potential this season at either Everton or back in his home country, he must perform against Atalanta on Thursday night as he is unlikely to be given many more chances.
The Toffees have been knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Chelsea, and have just two games left in the Europa League of which Unsworth has also seen his side fail to qualify for the next round.
That leaves Ramirez with just Thursday night’s match, another meaningless Europa League outing against Apollon Limassol and, if he is lucky, the odd substitute appearance in the Premier League to impress.
With La Liga clubs said to be watching on and Everton desperate for him to find his goalscoring boots and become the striker to replace Romelu Lukaku for good, Ramirez must shine and find the back of the net on Thursday night.
