The agent of former Arsenal, Chelsea and Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra admits that his client could move to Inter Milan.
After leaving Lokomotiv Moscow this summer, ex-Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Lassana Diarra was widely expected to join his former Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp at QPR.
However, the deal fell through, leaving Diarra as a free agent when the transfer window closed in September – and a number of sides were linked with moves to sign the former French international.
Newcastle and Tottenham were rumoured to be eyeing a move for Diarra, but it’s Celtic who have been touted as front runners for his signature in recent months.
Ronny Deila’s men were ready to snap the 29-year-old up back in October, but were prevented from signing Diarra due to a red tape issue with Lokomotiv Moscow – and now, he could be lining up against them.
Diarra’s agent has told of how his client is interested in a move to Inter Milan, who are Celtic’s opponents in the Europa League knockout stages.
“I cannot talk about the negotiations right now, but Inter would certainly be a more than interesting opportunity for him,” agent Marijo Knez said.
“We are talking about a very good club with a great coach. Lass is highly motivated to get back on the field and prove all his quality in a new challenge. We’ll see if destiny brings him to Milan.”
Coming so close to signing Diarra and then having to face him would be a bitter pill for Deila to swallow, but it has to be acknowledged that Celtic’s chase of Diarra was always an ambitious one.
