Newcastle sit in third in the Championship as they prepare to host Brentford after the international break.
Jamaal Lascelles has welcomed the international break, despite the momentum they had with back-to-back wins over Norwich and Rotherham, speaking to The Chronicle.
Newcastle sit in third place with 22 points, three behind league leaders Huddersfield, and the Magpies captain believes the break will benefit the team.

“It’s always nice to have momentum and keep things going,” Lascelles told The Chronicle.
“But a little break won’t do us any harm. We have been able to rest our heads and get back at it.”
The next game for Rafael Benitez’s side is at home to Brentford who sit in seventh, just two points behind Birmingham who occupy the final spot in the playoffs at this early stage.

It will certainly be a tough game for Newcastle, and they would much rather have played the game as quickly as possible to keep the momentum up that they had gained from two wins in four days.
However, Lascelles relaxed response to having a rest rather than keeping up momentum shows just how positive and confident the Newcastle squad are, as they are not desperate to play the next game, showing they have faith in their ability to get the job done, welcoming the opportunity for a break to recharge their batteries.
The 22-year-old has been in good form himself, and will be hoping to continue that form against Brentford where he will be hopeful of another clean sheet and the all important three points.
