Jamaal Lascelles is one of the best defenders in the Premier League, and there is no surprise that Everton, Liverpool and West Ham United are among the clubs interested in signing the Newcastle United star in the summer transfer window.

According to The Independent, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp wants to sign Lascelles from Premier League rivals Newcastle this summer.

The London Evening Standard has credited Chelsea with interest in the former Nottingham Forest defender, while The Mirror has claimed that Everton are planning a £25 million move for the 24-year-old centre-back.

The Sun has also reported that West Ham are planning a £15m move for the former England Under-21 international defender.

Lascelles, though, is happy at Newcastle, and told ChronicleLive when asked about about speculation linking him West Ham and Everton among other clubs: “I’m very happy here.

“You hear things, you hear rumours and stuff, but I’m a young player and I need to be playing football at a good club – and that’s what this is.

“This is the right club for me at the right time. We have a huge fanbase, an amazing manager, and this club is massive. It has so much history.”

Reassuring for Newcastle United fans

Newcastle fans should be reassured and relieved at the aforementioned comments from Lascelles.

The defender, who is valued at €22.4 million (£19.67m) by CIES Football Observatory, has developed himself as a key player for the Magpies, and for Rafael Benitez’s side to progress as a club and on the pitch, they need to retain the services of the former Forest star.
