Newcastle United’s players were happy with their latest three points.
Newcastle United overcame Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 this weekend courtesy of a first-half strike from Aleksandar Mitrovic, and the Magpies’ players were quick to hail a vital three points after the final whistle.
Rafa Benitez’s side have been battling with Brighton & Hove Albion for top spot in the Championship for much of the campaign, and Newcastle’s narrow victory saw them climb back above the Seagulls with 30 matches played.

Anything could happen between now and the end of the campaign, with Newcastle and Brighton fully aware that the sides currently occupying the play-off places are only one great run of form away from pushing for an automatic promotion spot. But if the Magpies keep winning, they will be back among the big boys come May.
Among the Newcastle players to take to social media on Saturday evening was defender Jamaal Lascelles, who acknowledged just how tough it was to come away with all three points against a resilient Wolves side.

Isaac Hayden also had his say, writing, “Big three points today. Lads stuck together and dug deep for that result.”
He went on to hail the Newcastle fans who always offer great traveling support, as did winger Christian Atsu, who called the latest three points “massive”.
Next up for Newcastle is an away match against Norwich City this Tuesday evening.
