The Norway boss has been hearing great things about the Celtic man’s personality.
Norway boss Lars Lagerback has revealed to The Record that he has been receiving glowing reports about Kristoffer Ajer’s personality and confidence after rewarding the Celtic youngster’s form this week.
The centre-back could make his international debut this month after Lagerback handed him a first-ever promotion to Norway’s senior team.
Ajer, an £800,000 signing under Ronny Deila’s reign at Celtic, has been superb since the turn of the year, establishing himself as a firm first-team regular under Brendan Rodgers.
By virtue of the fact that he is only 19, Ajer must boast an abundance of confidence and self-belief regarding his own ability, and Lagerback was told as much when he asked about the young stalwart.
He told The Record: “I do not know Kristoffer personally, so I’ll be a little careful – but everyone I know has been very positive about his personality.
“He has a lot of self-esteem, confidence and is the type of character we need to be a successful team. That is the picture I am getting and I can’t wait to get to know him more.”
If he does face Australia or Albania in this month’s friendlies, Celtic fans will be desperate to see him return unscathed because, let’s face it, Rodgers needs him.
The Northern Irish manager has plenty of centre-back options, but none more solid than Ajer at the moment and losing him would be a blow, with a Scottish Cup semi-final against Rangers to come next month.
