Landskrona decide against signing Leeds’ Bailey Peacock-Farrell

Leeds United goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell had been on trial with the Swedish second division side.

Landskrona have today confirmed on their official website that they have decided against pursuing a deal for Leeds United goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell after a recent trial.

It may have surprised some that Peacock-Farrell was given the chance to make the switch to the Swedish second division side. While the deal would have presumably been a loan move, it could certainly be argued that there were other clubs that may have been better suited to the young stopper.

The 21-year-old took part in a trial game and some training sessions with Landskrona, but they have since confirmed on their official website that they will not be looking to bring the goalkeeper in.

“Bailey has made a good impression on us and has shown a professional attitude, but we have chosen to end the contact yet. We are continuing the search for a goalkeeper,” sports director Peter Swärdh told the club’s website.

With a number of talented goalkeepers in Leeds’ under-23 ranks right now, it will be very interesting to see what is around the corner for Peacock-Farrell – who, unlike many of his rivals, has made his Championship debut, appearing against Queens Park Rangers back in 2016.

At one stage, it seemed that Peacock-Farrell had the potential to go on and become Leeds’ undisputed number one for a long time once he broke into the team on a regular basis, and keeping him from Premier League clubs may have been a potential battle that the Whites may face.

That may still happen, of course, but with the Carlos Corberan’s squad looking very strong in the goalkeeping department, he may have been hoping that a loan move to get some first-team football would have done his chances of standing out the world of good.
