Lando Norris has backed Lewis Hamilton to be back in the mix at the front of the grid for the 2026 season.
Hamilton’s first year with Ferrari didn’t start as hoped. Despite all the excitement around his move, his debut season fell well short of expectations.
Even though he didn’t pick up a race win in his first year, things could be looking up for him heading into his second. With all his experience and still plenty of pace left, Hamilton should never be counted out, no matter how long it’s been since he was last on top.
The 2026 pre-season testing sessions in Barcelona and Bahrain pointed to a more promising outlook for Ferrari. They looked much stronger, potentially ready to take on Mercedes throughout the season.
Lando Norris says Lewis Hamilton is set to challenge for the lead in 2026
During his appearance at the ‘Victory Lap’ event, Lando Norris was asked if he thinks Hamilton will be back competing at the front with Ferrari in 2026.
Norris pointed to Hamilton’s experience, saying he expects him to adapt quickly to the new regulations and be back in the mix near the top of the grid this season.
Norris explained, “He has more experience than everyone. He has not won seven World Championships; it should have been eight.”
Lewis Hamilton nears final piece needed to succeed with Ferrari
Lewis Hamilton is now into his second year at Ferrari, adding more time and familiarity with the team as he prepares for the 2026 season.
During a Q&A session with L’Equipe, Fred Feret was asked what Hamilton still needs to be successful in his second year with Ferrari.
Feret suggested that while the 2026 car looks solid and should have a strong engine advantage early in races, there’s one area outside of the car itself that could make a difference for Hamilton.
He believes that bringing in a new race engineer could be key to helping Hamilton start reaching the podium consistently in his second season at Ferrari.
