It has been a busy summer of transfer business for Sunderland following their relegation from the Premier League after a 10-year stay in the English top flight.
No fewer than 13 players have left the club, forcing new manager Simon Grayson into a huge reshuffle of his squad ahead of their first season in the Championship in a decade.

As well as that nine new faces have arrived at the Stadium of Light, but there is one standout addition who has already shown in five league games he could be a real hit in the North East.
That man is Aiden McGeady, who according to Sky Sports cost just £250,000 to sign from Everton back in July. The winger may now be 31-years-old, but as a short-term option there are few better at this level.
Grayson knows McGeady well too, having revitalised his career while on loan at Preston North End last term, during which time the Republic of Ireland international scored eight goals and provided nine assists.

Already this campaign the attacker has one goal and two assists in the second tier and if the Black Cats are to gain promotion at the first time of asking, he will surely play a big part in that.
While the loan additions of Premier League duo Brendan Galloway and Jonny Williams look fairly shrewd, it is McGeady who could really be the talisman in 2017/18.
