Jamie O’Hara has been speaking to Sky Sports, where he made an interesting claim involving Everton and Wolves.

Wolves gift Everton an “unbelievable character”

Well, after Wolves decided to sack Bruno Lage, O’Hara made a very valid point about Conor Coady.

The 36-year-old said: “Getting rid of Conor Coady is the biggest mistake Wolves have made. Whether he’s playing or not, he is a player you have to have in your dressing room. He’s an unbelievable character. Frank Lampard must be absolutely buzzing that he’s been able to get him away from Wolves.”

O’Hara is spot on. We simply cannot understand why Lage decided to let his club captain depart Molineux for a loan spell at Goodison Park.

Of course, the England international wanted to leave in search of regular game time after finding himself demoted to the bench, and Wolves chose not to stand in his way as a result of his loyalty.

However, Coady should never have been placed among the substitutes in the first place.

The 29-year-old has made a huge impact at Everton, scoring one goal while also providing one assist in seven Premier League appearances so far.

Coady’s efforts have helped the Toffees sit comfortably in eleventh place, while no side have conceded fewer than Everton’s seven concessions in the Premier League so far this season.

Alongside James Tarkowski in defence, he has been a transformative signing.

Everton must trigger Conor Coady option

Commendably, Kevin Thelwell negotiated an option to buy Coady on a permanent basis when agreeing to loan him from Wolves, according to the Express and Star.

If it wasn’t already obvious, Everton simply have to trigger that option.

At 29, Coady still has many years to offer, while his leadership qualities behind the scenes will presumably ensure Everton never find themselves in a relegation battle similar to last season’s close shave.
