Tottenham earned an excellent 2-2 draw in Turin against Juventus on Tuesday night.
Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has told BT Sport that he reckons Tottenham Hotspur have given themselves the best chance possible of qualifying for the Champions League quarter finals.
Spurs came from two goals down after Gonzalo Higuain had given Masimilliano Allegri’s side the lead within the first 10 minutes, volleying home a Pjanic free-kick before converting ninth-minute penalty.
Harry Kane then got one back for Spurs after going round Gianluigi Buffon, but Higuain missed the chance to score a hat-trick as he smashed the ball against the bar. Christian Eriksen’s free-kick saw Spurs complete a dramatic turnaround.
Now with two away goals to their name, Spurs have an excellent chance of knocking out the 2016-17 finalists when the two sides meet at Wembley on March 7 and Lampard applauded the north Londoners for the win.
“They’ve given themselves a great chance and they deserve to be confident. They’ve gone to Turin, a very difficult place to go, against a very good Juventus team,” Lampard said.
“They’ve got 70 per cent possession, created chances, held their own. That takes not only quality, but it takes personality. They’ve proved themselves to this point, now they can get to the quarter finals.”
Juventus could pose a bigger threat when they come to London in three weeks’ time, as Blaise Matuidi and Paulo Dybala missed Tuesday night’s first leg through injury.
From the heights of facing the Italian champions, Spurs now travel to Spotland to face bottom of League One Rochdale in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Sunday.
