Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has told Football.London that he does think Tottenham Hotspur are contenders for the Premier League title.
The two London rivals met at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, playing out a very tight game that finished in a 0-0 draw.
Spurs were dangerous on the break but Chelsea had the better chances, and may feel disappointed not to have broken Tottenham down.
As for Spurs, the point took them back to the top of the Premier League table, leapfrogging Liverpool following their draw at Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.
Boss Jose Mourinho played down title hopes after the final whistle, suggesting that Spurs are a ‘pony’ in what people thought would be a two or three-horse race.
Mourinho is managing expectations at Tottenham, but his former star midfielder Lampard believes that Spurs are certainly contenders.

Lampard suggested that it’s up to Mourinho to decide whether he thinks Tottenham are in the title race, but he also pointed out that players like Gareth Bale and Dele Alli didn’t even play yesterday, which sums up the strength of their squad.
“It’s Jose’s call to say how he sees it from his side,” said Lampard. “They’re top of the league and if you’ve got Harry Kane and Son in your team, and you keep clean sheets with their organisation, they’ve spent on bringing Gareth Bale in and he was on the bench. Dele Alli wasn’t even here. I think we’re all contenders,” he added.
