Lamine Yamal’s injury during Barcelona’s 1-0 win over Celta Vigo on Wednesday immediately raised concerns. The timing, with the World Cup approaching, ensured the situation drew significant attention.

Barcelona moved quickly to calm fears this Thursday. The club stated that Yamal is expected to be available for the tournament, with a conservative treatment plan now in place.

However, no definitive timeline has been confirmed. That uncertainty has led to growing concern that the young Spain star could still miss the competition if recovery does not progress as expected.

Yamal’s situation places him among several high-profile players already ruled out of the tournament, in an unfortunate list that shows no sign of stopping.

Rodrygo, who represents Real Madrid and Brazil, is set to miss the World Cup after suffering both ACL and meniscus injuries.

Bayern Munich’s Serge Gnabry and Liverpool forward Hugo Ekitike have also been ruled out.

Despite Rodrygo’s inconsistent season, all three players are key figures within top-10 teams on UEFA rankings, which means their absences will obviously be felt during the World Cup.

Other injury concerns leave more World Cup places in doubt

Yamal is not the only player facing uncertainty ahead of the competition. Several other stars are also dealing with fitness concerns.

Chelsea forward Estevao, already a Brazil starter, has suffered a serious hamstring injury. His chances of making the tournament remain slim, though he has not been fully ruled out.

Real Madrid defender Eder Militao has also picked up another muscular issue. He is expected to be available, but there is still no firm confirmation.
