Sunderland defender Lamine Kone has praised midfielder Didier Ndong to the Chronicle.

The midfielder joined the Black Cats on deadline day of the summer transfer window in a club record deal from Lorient.

After waiting for his chance he has now featured in the club’s last two games, which they lost to Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace respectively.

Despite his side suffering defeats in both, his performances have been largely impressive as he has settled quickly into life in the Premier League.

One man who has been impressed is teammate Kone, who has praised the midfielder’s ability.

“Didier is a good player,” the defender told the Chronicle.

“He ran a lot, he has a lot of energy which is good for the team. He is very aggressive in his play and he is a really good player. We need Didier.”

Ndong has certainly established himself as something of a key player in his two games so far.

Of the midfielders to feature in those games he has won the joint-most tackles and interceptions as well as posting the second most ball recoveries.

He has also managed to register the most accurate passes and enjoy the best passing accuracy of any Black Cats midfielder.

That is impressive work, to say the least, and manager David Moyes will be hoping for more of the same as they look to secure their first win of the season when they take on West Brom this weekend.
