Tottenham winger insisted he was in no mood to give up just days ago.
Erik Lamela is going through a tough time with his lengthy recovery from injury, with the Telegraph reporting he has also been affected by an accident suffered by his brother and the death of his dog.
He has been doing his rehab in Rome, and yesterday Squawka reported that Lamela is keen on a move back to former club Roma.

Last night he hit out at the claims, insisting via Twitter that he is missing Spurs constantly.
While he left Roma on good terms, Lamela has been well supported by Tottenham’s coaching staff, with Mauricio Pochettino helping him develop into one of the team’s key players.
The report that Lamela was keen on a Spurs exit is in direct conflict with a message posted on Instagram by the winger just days earlier.
Lamela uploaded a picture of him playing for Tottenham and taking a set piece, with the poignant words: “Difficult times for me but never give up.”

These were not the comments of a player who sounds like he is plotting an exit, not when juxtaposed with a picture of Lamela in a Tottenham shirt.
It would not be a surprise to learn that while in Rome, associates have tried to bend his ear about making a switch, but Lamela has an important role at Spurs and unless he actually decided he wanted to leave, Tottenham have no reason to sell.
It never should have been a story in the first place, and Lamela has sensibly decided to extinguish it.
