Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with one of the Bundesliga’s biggest stars.

According to a recent report from the Daily Star, Tottenham Hotspur are planning to enter the race for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The 27-year-old has just a year left on his current contract and if he is available for a cut-price fee clubs across Europe will no doubt be interested.
The Armenia international scored 23 goals and provided 32 assists for Dortmund last season and he has a total of 41 goals and 49 assists in 140 games for the Bundesliga side.

There is no doubt he would be a superb addition to Tottenham’s squad, but his arrival could impact one player in particular in the form of Erik Lamela.
The Argentina international has taken time to settle at White Hart Lane but last season was his best by some margin, and Lamela ended the campaign with 11 goals, 10 assists and a string of fine performances.
The problem is that return is considerably less than Mkhitaryan and if the more experienced player was to sign for Tottenham, Lamela’s game time would be significantly impacted.

Predominantly a right winger, Mkhitaryan could take the Premier League by storm, and Christian Eriksen may also be watching things with interest given the former’s ability to play as an attacking midfielder if required.
But it is out wide where the Dortmund man is most effective, meaning Lamela could be forced to up his game or risk losing his place if suggestions Tottenham are readying a bid for Mkhitaryan are true.
