Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has a decision to make about his creative options.
With a host of creative options at his disposal, Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino faces a selection dilemma going into Saturday evening’s eagerly-anticipated fixture away to Premier League leaders Manchester City.
Erik Lamela has been rather impressive since returning from injury, with the winger catching the eye with his fine dribbling and link-up play.
Pochettino also has the likes of Christian Eriksen, Son Heung-min, Harry Winks and Dele Alli at his disposal, with the latter hoping to return to the starting lineup against City after featuring as a substitute against Brighton & Hove Albion in midweek.
Lamela’s case for inclusion from the outset is difficult to ignore, with the Argentine possessing the pace and trickery that can bamboozle what is likely to be a makeshift City defence with John Stones out and Vincent Kompany also unlikely to feature.
Although Alli’s recent form has been rather disappointing, the England international still possesses the quality to unlock defences with precise passes.
What Tottenham need against City, however, is a constant attacking threat, and Lamela is certainly capable of providing that.
Perhaps the best option would be for Lamela to start, with Alli to be brought on in the second half to give Tottenham greater control in midfield.
If Pochettino can get the right combination then Tottenham might just be the team to stop the seemingly irrepressible Manchester City in their tracks.
