Tottenham’s Erik Lamela
Tottenham’s Argentina international Erik Lamela has explained the importance of his side portraying to the rest of the league that they want to win every game, in an interview with the club’s official website.
Despite struggling to adapt to the intensity of the Premier League upon his arrival at White Hart Lane in 2013, the 24-year-old is slowly but surely beginning to establish himself as a regular feature in Mauricio Pochettino’s side, appearing in 41 of Tottenham’s last 45 league outings.
Lamela discussed how he is very much focused on team ethic at Spurs this season, and how their mentality will be crucial in their hopes of success, as quoted by tottenhamhotspur.com:

“We always need to show that we want to win. I always look for the team first. If the team wins, I’m happy. If I play well but we don’t get three points, my feeling isn’t good. The most important thing is always to win.”
In nine appearances for the North London outfit this term, Lamela has scored one goal and chipped in with three assists, but there are still sections of the Tottenham support who believe he is too lightweight and doesn’t contribute enough defensively.

At the age of 24, though, Lamela still has plenty of time to improve, both physically and technically, and if he continues to work hard, there is no reason why he cannot reach the standards that his potential suggests he is capable of.
