West Ham could sell their big-name summer signing as one club position themselves to make a move.
Rumours of LAFC making a move for Javier Hernandez just will not go away.
And staff at the new MLS franchise continue to stoke the fires of that story as they look desperate to bring the West Ham United forward to California.
LAFC owner and actor Will Ferrell had taken to ESPN in the summer to beg Hernandez to move to Los Angeles instead of London, falling short of convincing the 29-year-old.
But head coach Bob Bradley picked up the baton this week on the same channel, making no secret of his desire to see Hernandez in the black and gold.
“That one is left with the ownership,” Bradley said. “From the standpoint of the manager, Chicharito is a big player, big personality, great goal scorer.
“So, if Will Ferrell, the rest of the ownership can bring that commitment, I can figure out a way to get him on the field and help him score goals.”
While the attraction for LAFC is obvious, the move would surely be extremely tempting for Hernandez, too.
The Telegraph reports that West Ham will listen to offers for their front man and Hernandez can hardly feel wanted, having slipped down the pecking order at London Stadium.
Not only would LAFC offer an escape route, though, but it also presents the opportunity for Hernandez to line up alongside Mexico team-mate Carlos Vela, while Giovani dos Santos and Jonathan dos Santos are also in the area with LA Galaxy.
Hernandez has also spoken positively of MLS in the past, hitting out at critics of the league as he defended his compatriots’ moves to a location not far from their native country.
“They will be living a better life,” he said, as reported by ESPN. “Why is that wrong? Why is it that [Mexicans] have to be used to suffering?”
Hernandez could hardly be blamed for looking to follow his international team-mates to the United States if his Premier League dream is over.
