Arsenal defender Sead Kolasinac appears to be something of a lucky charm.

Well, he wasn’t all that lucky for the Gunners, who loaned him to Schalke in the Bundesliga earlier this month.

But his return to the German club has coincided with them ending a 30-match winless streak.

Kolasinac, who joined Arsenal in 2017, played the full 90 minutes as Schalke picked up their first victory of the 2020-21 campaign – 15 games into it – by beating Hoffenheim 4-0.

Not only is Mesut Ozil a close friend of his former team-mate at the Emirates Stadium, but the German club is near and dear to the 32-year-old’s heart after rising through their academy.

Here’s how Ozil reacted to the win on Twitter:

Arsenal would have preferred to get shot of Kolasinac entirely.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international earns some £100,000 per week in North London and if he isn’t contributing, it’s going down the drain from the club’s perspective.

But Arteta seems to be trimming the fat at the Emirates these days and it looks very likely that Ozil could also follow Kolasinac out the door – though if he does, it’ll be on a permanent basis.
