Arsenal fans on Twitter are excited about a transfer rumour regarding Dani Ceballos.
According to Spanish outlet AS, the Real Madrid-owned midfielder is ‘set to remain’ in North London next season.
Ceballos’s loan at Arsenal – which reportedly cost the Gunners £15 million – will expire after Saturday’s FA Cup final clash with Chelsea at Wembley.
The 23-year-old had a pretty hit and miss first half of the season under Unai Emery, but he has emerged as a vital player for head coach Mikel Arteta.
And some fans of the Emirates Stadium club are delighted about possibly keeping him until next summer. Here’s how they’re reacting on Twitter:
This is definitely good news but Arsenal need to be sure they can sign him outright next year.
They didn’t have an option-to-buy clause in this deal, which is the reason he was heading back to Madrid until recently.
Ceballos has a big future and Arteta, a former midfielder himself, could take him to the next level, but there’s no long-term sense in re-signing him on loan if Arsenal are in the exact same situation 12 months from now.
