Speaking on the Where’s Jeff? Podcast, Phil Thompson and Charlie Nicholas has been discussing Leeds United and their slow start to the season.
It’s no secret that Leeds haven’t been at their best this season. We’re five games into the season and the Whites are yet to win a Premier League game.
Their attack has been blunt while their defence has been leaky.
There are a few Leeds players who haven’t been up to scratch thus far, but the easiest person to point the finger at may be Patrick Bamford.
Indeed, Bamford netted 17 Premier League goals last term, but this time around he’s scored just once in five matches, and Thompson hasn’t been impressed.
What’s been said?
The pundits were speaking about Leeds and Bamford.
“I don’t see it, I just see Bamford up there trying to feed off of little bits and pieces, I’m going for a West Ham away win,” Charlie Nicholas said.
“They had some chances against Newcastle last week. Raphinha had a few good chances, but he’s getting to that point Bamford where you’re going is he going through one of those spells where he’s lacking confidence again. Leeds have to dig in at this moment in time, but I fancy West Ham,” Thompson said.

One-season wonder
It’s one of the biggest cliches in football, but it’s not insane to suggest that Bamford could be a one-season wonder.
Think about it, the Leeds ace has never been that prolific before in his career. After all, he had just one Premier League goal to his name before last term.
Perhaps Bamford was just riding the crest of a wave last season and now that wave has come crashing down, or perhaps he’s just going through a slump at the moment and things will soon improve.
Either way, Leeds need to find a way to start scoring again.
