Arsenal striker, Alexandre Lacazette, posted ‘what a pass’ on Calum Chambers’ Instagram as he reacted to his moment of magic for Aston Villa on Saturday.
Steven Gerrard’s side thrashed Southampton 4-0, with Chambers playing a quite stunning outside of the foot pass to Philippe Coutinho, before Villa’s second goal and his ex-Arsenal teammate being impressed by it.
Here is Aston Villa’s official Twitter account posting footage of ex-Arsenal man Chambers’ delightful ball to Coutinho yesterday for Douglas Luiz’s goal.
Many were left surprised when Villa signed Chambers from Arsenal during the January transfer window because the deal came out of the blue.
With the Englishman’s contract running out in north London, he decided to head towards the Midlands and start a new chapter in his footballing life.
His Villa debut didn’t get off to the best of starts because Gerrard’s side were beaten at Newcastle, before suffering a home defeat to Watford.
But, with Ezri Konsa being out with COVID yesterday, Chambers was drafted in and he did the job for his side.
Chambers, against his former club, dealt with the threat of Che Adams and also provided that spark with the ball.
Even though it was a first clean sheet in Villa colours for Chambers, if Konsa returns for the club’s next fixture, then it might be a case of sitting back on the bench for the January recruit.
Nonetheless, when Chambers posted on Instagram about yesterday’s win, Lacazette simply posted ‘what a pass’ to which the centre-back responded: ‘You have seen that one before’.
