Arsenal star Alexandre Lacazette spoke to beIN Sports about Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The former Dortmund man has had another very productive season for the Gunners. Aubameyang has 23 goals in all competitions and is one of the biggest reasons why Arsenal are not in the bottom half of the league table.

The Gunners skipper has entered the final year of his contract. His future is still up in the air and, as positive as Arteta is of keeping him, Aubameyang could still move on this summer.

Lacazette and Aubameyang have a brilliant relationship both on and off the pitch and the Frenchman, like most Arsenal fans, is hoping that his skipper extends his stay at the Emirates for the foreseeable future.

The former Lyon man even went as far as calling Aubameyang an Arsenal legend; probably a bit premature considering that he has only been at the club for about two and a half years.

He said: “We stopped talking about this because at the beginning it can be funny, but after a long time it can be annoying because he wants something that is not maybe the way he would like. I don’t want to the guy a bit annoying so we didn’t really speak about his future.

“He is already I think one of the legends because of the amount of goals he has scored. But to be honest, I am just going to wait like everyone else, and just hope he tells me before the press.”

Is Aubameyang really an Arsenal legend?

Aubameyang is certainly among the best strikers to play for the Gunners and his record shows that. The Gabonese international is the fastest Arsenal player to score 50 goals, which is some record considering the quality of strikers the Gunners have had in the past.

Yet legendary status for Aubameyang might just be a bit too soon. However, if he puts pen to paper and leads the Gunners to silverware in the next few years, not many can argue against him being an Arsenal great.
