Arsenal striker, Alexandre Lacazette, told Super Sunday on Sky Sports that ‘you have to maintain’ Gabriel Martinelli’s ‘confidence’ and ‘desire’ to play.

The senior Arsenal man was sharing his thoughts on Bukayo Saka, his fellow academy product, Emile Smith Rowe and on Martinelli.

All three are seen as the future of Arsenal and a trio of attacking talent that can lead the attacking line for the North London outfit in years to come.

Lacazette shared that the £6 million star (Goal) is ‘different’ to Arsenal’s academy duo.

“Martinelli is different (to Saka and Smith Rowe) because he didn’t have a lot of games,” said Lacazette.

“So, you have to maintain his confidence and to his desire to play.”

Last season, Martinelli was a shining light in what was a bleak and miserable season for the North London club.

Fast forward to today and not much has changed with Arsenal, other than Martinelli’s game time.

Many Arsenal fans feel that he should be earning more minutes and starts on the pitch, and with that picking up of late, he will be hoping it can continue during a crucial last few weeks of the campaign.
