The Los Angeles Lakers’ starting lineup is doing a tremendous job this season.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ recent 133-121 win over the New Orleans Pelicans has helped them improve to a 15-4 record.

It’s currently the second-best record in the Western Conference and the third-best record in the entire league.

LA Lakers’ starting lineup is scoring the most points per game in the NBA

The starting five of any team is the most important factor when it comes to succeeding in the NBA.

The Lakers have no issues in that department, thanks to the presence of Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves, Deandre Ayton, and now, LeBron James.

In fact, the Lakers’ starting five is currently scoring the most points in the league with 95.2 points per game.

Sure, Doncic and Reaves are carrying the majority of the offensive load, but the other three players are doing well as well.

However, the story flips when fans take a look at the Lakers’ bench scoring.

LA Lakers’ bench is ranked last in the NBA

As of now, the Lakers’ bench, consisting of players Jake LaRavia and Jaxson Hayes, is scoring just 23.7 points per game for the Purple and Gold.

It’s remarkably low as the Lakers’ bench ranks 30th in terms of points per game. There’s a gap of more than 5.0 points per game between the Lakers and the next-worst bench in the league.

While NBA teams often run shorter rotations come playoff time, they still rely on their supporting players to score.

With a starting five-heavy offensive scheme, the Lakers seem destined to fail in the postseason when their top stars are tired.
