LA Galaxy star Riqui Puig is already excited to face Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami, even with the two clubs not playing each other this season.
Speaking to Sport, the former FC Barcelona midfielder praised Inter Miami’s summer business that has seen the likes of Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba join the MLS franchise.
Puig has spent one year in America after making the surprise decision to sign for the Galaxy after leaving Barcelona, with the 23-year-old still very much a player who is good enough to compete in Europe’s best leagues.

Yet with Messi now a part of MLS, more signings like Puig’s could now be made, with the Argentine superstar raising the profile of the league to unimaginable heights in his first few weeks at Inter Miami.
And Puig is already excited to face Inter Miami, with the Galaxy star saying when asked about the prospect of facing his former Barcelona teammates: “I talk to Busquets and Alba every week.
“I can’t wait to play against old teammates and more on the other side of the world. Mostly Busquets, who helped me a lot in the dressing room. Also Alba. I think they’re going to have a great time in Miami.”
Inter Miami – LA Galaxy could be the headline MLS fixture of 2024

With the two clubs currently not slated to meet each other this year, Inter Miami taking on the Galaxy next season could already be billed as one of the biggest matches in MLS history.
The match that could already be dubbed ‘The David Beckham Derby’, Inter Miami are on course to become the biggest club in MLS if Messi continues to perform and the big names keep knocking on the door.
And a clash against the biggest historic side in America in the Galaxy could be one for the ages, with MLS missing a trick if the fixture computer fails to match the two sides against one-another in 2024.
