The LA Galaxy are reportedly set to open transfer talks with CF Monterrey for Rogelio Funes Mori, with the striker open to a move to MLS.

According to Mexican publication Cero Cero, discussions will soon begin between the Galaxy and Rayados for the 32-year-old attacker, with Greg Vanney eager to add more firepower to his frontline in the form of Funes Mori.

Monterrey’s all-time leading goalscorer and a modern Liga MX legend, Funes Mori would solve a long-standing issue the Galaxy have suffered all season in being the MLS franchise’s new leading man in attack.

The Galaxy lost Javier Hernandez to a season-ending injury back in June, and Funes Mori is now being lined up by the Western Conference side as a replacement for the 35-year-old.

With Monterrey spending big this window on the signing of Sergio Canales with former Tottenham star Lucas Moura a key target for the Mexican giants, parting ways with Funes Mori for a small fee could be an appealing option this summer.

Indeed, with the Galaxy now in talks to sign Funes Mori, a deal could be struck between all parties in the coming days, with the Mexican international an ideal signing for the MLS giants this summer.

Funes Mori is showing no signs of letting up having started the new Liga MX season in stunning fashion, and for the Galaxy, the former River Plate star could be a bargain signing this window.

As we know, the Galaxy are lacking goals and need everything possible to get back to scoring in the second half of the season, and Funes Mori will provide just that.

Moreover, with Monterrey seemingly open to selling Funes Mori, the California-based side could get themselves a good deal for the Argentine-born striker, who himself seems keen on a move to MLS.
