The Los Angeles Clippers have dug themselves into a hole to start the season.
The Los Angeles Clippers are 5-12 and sit in 12th place in the Western Conference. James Harden has been a one-man show trying to keep the Clippers afloat.
Kawhi Leonard finally returned to the Clippers’ lineup after missing 10 games with a sprained right ankle, but the Clippers still lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Clippers are running out of answers. The Oklahoma City Thunder have the Clippers’ 2026 first-round pick, so they have no incentive to be bad. Therefore, they might have to try something desperate to save their season.

The Los Angeles Clippers are showing interest in DeMar DeRozan
With the Clippers desperately needing something to turn their season around, they could look to trade for another veteran player.
The Clippers have been linked to DeMar DeRozan by The Athletic’s Sam Amick. The Sacramento Kings are expected to have a fire sale and DeRozan is a player widely expected to be traded.
“DeMar DeRozan, the 36-year-old who league sources say has some interest from the LA Clippers, has a partial guarantee on his deal for next season (approximately $10 million of his $25.7 million).
“Malik Monk, who was part of the Jonathan Kuminga trade talks with Golden State in the summer that are likely to be revisited, has a combined $41.7 million on his deal in the next two seasons (including a 2027-28 player option).
“The list goes on from there, with fourth-year guard Keon Ellis ($2.3 million expiring deal) widely seen as one of the most coveted Kings players among rival teams.”
DeMar DeRozan won’t save the Los Angeles Clippers
DeRozan is 36 years old and is only going to add to the Clippers’ aging roster. The Clippers are coming off making a huge mistake by trading away Norman Powell, who is having a career year with the Miami Heat.
Trading for DeRozan out of an act of desperation would only end up being another big mistake for this franchise.
It’s only going to cost the Clippers more and set them back further if they attempt to trade for DeRozan.
Harden, Leonard and DeRozan seem like a very clunky fit. While it could help a bit offensively, it doesn’t move the needle for contending this season.
At this stage, the Clippers will go down swinging, but they could implode as a result.
