As France tasted defeat in bitter fashion in the World Cup final, Kylian Mbappe has had his say on his nation’s failure to retain their status as world champions.
In a pulsating contest that ended 3-3, it took Argentina’s bottle during the penalty shootout to get them over the line.
However, Mbappe was typically unplayable on the night.
Despite Didier Deschamps’ side failing to turn up for most of the contest, the PSG forward certainly did, first opening the scoring with a well-struck spot-kick.
Soon after, Kylian Mbappe fired home a venomous volley to level scores, turning the game on its head.
While Lionel Messi’s strike in extra-time seemed to have settled the encounter, the World Cup winner scored from 12 yards out again to take the cinematic clash to penalties.
In the shootout as well, Mbappe scored, as expected.
However, poor penalties from Aurelien Tchouameni and Kingsley Coman meant France finished as runners-up in Qatar, despite the incredible winger’s masterful display.
Kylian Mbappe reacts to France’s World Cup final loss
Kylian Mbappe took to Twitter to give a brief reaction to France’s defeat to Argentina in the World Cup final.
“We will be back”, he commented in his latest post on Monday.
The Frenchman can leave the World Cup with his head held up high

For starters, Kylian Mbappe was easily the standout player in the World Cup final, despite taking home a silver medal.
Throughout the campaign as well, the 23-year-old was a joy to watch, granted the Golden Boot after scoring a staggering 8 goals in Qatar.
While many have often questioned the former Monaco superstar’s attitude and ceiling due to him playing in the much-maligned French top-flight, all such doubts were put to bed by a truly generational footballer.
If not for the smallest margins, Kylian Mbappe would be a deserved World Cup winner for the second time in a row.
