Manchester City defender Kyle Walker has admitted to Sky Sports that he wants to beat Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday due to his ties with Tottenham Hotspur.

City may have lost 1-0 to Wigan Athletic in a shock defeat on Monday night, but Pep Guardiola’s men have the chance to bounce back quickly this weekend, as they take on Arsenal in the final of the Carabao Cup at Wembley Stadium.

After beating Bristol City in the semi-finals, City will now look to clinch a first piece of silverware under Guardiola, and the game will seemingly matter so much more to one City player in particular.

Defender Kyle Walker, who joined City from Spurs in a big-money deal over the summer, is set to start for Guardiola in the final, and it means that he has yet another meeting with Arsenal on the horizon.

Arsenal were ‘the enemy’ for eight years of Walker’s career given his ties with Tottenham, and he has shown that the rivalry between the two clubs is still on his mind months after leaving North London.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Walker admitted that he wants to get one over on Tottenham’s bitter rivals, as Spurs are still a club so close to his heart, adding that he is indebted to Spurs but felt he had to move on to join City and pursue trophies.

Walker’s comments show that he still thinks of Spurs fondly, but some fans have taken to Twitter to react angrily, stating that Tottenham are none of his business anymore having left the club, telling him that nobody cares what he has to say about Spurs.

However, others appreciated Walker’s comments, urging him to go on and beat Arsenal this weekend, with one fan even urging Walker to come back and play for Spurs again.
