Kyle Walker has moved from Tottenham Hotspur to Manchester City in the summer transfer window.

Kyle Walker has left Tottenham Hotspur for Premier League rivals Manchester City. According to The Daily Mail, City have had to pay Spurs a transfer fee of £54 million in order to secure the services of the England international.

Walker is one of the best right-backs in the Premier League, and his arrival at the Etihad Stadium is only going to enhance the quality of the City squad.

The 27-year-old has had injury issues in his career, but the former Sheffield United man has improved massively over the past two or three seasons.

Many Tottenham fans will be disappointed to see Walker leave Spurs for a direct Premier League title rival. After all, the Englishman was a key player in manager Mauricio Pochettino’s team for the past three seasons.

Walker has explained how leaving Tottenham for City is going to bring him closer to his family as he is from Sheffield. The Englishman has also shared his mother’s heartwarming reaction when she learned about his move to City.

“When I first went down there it was difficult,” The Daily Mail quotes Walker as saying. “I got homesick. I’d never really been away from Sheffield so it was difficult but after two years I never went back.

“I’m back up north, my mum’s going to be happy and I’m really excited. She couldn’t really believe it when I said it had gone through.

“There was a moment of silence, then there was crying, then there was laughing. She’s excited and she’s going to see me a lot more.”
