The England defender signed a new five-year deal at White Hart Lane.
Tottenham Hotspur right-back Kyle Walker has told the club’s official website that he knew as soon as he initially signed for the club that he would be there for the long haul.
Walker became the latest Spurs star to be awarded a new contract on Friday when he signed a new deal running until 2021.
The right-back has developed into one of the club’s most consistent and reliable stars, and missed just five Premier League games.
Walker initially joined the North London from Sheffield United in 2009 as a 19-year-old, but it wasn’t until the 2011-12 season, after an impressive spell on loan at Aston Villa, that he really cemented his place in the first team.
However, after signing his new terms he insisted that he always knew that White Hart Lane would become his home for the future, and admitted that he absolutely loves the club.
Walker told the club’s website: “When I first came here, in my head, the plan was to stay for the long run, it wasn’t a stepping stone to get me somewhere else or to go from one [club] to another, I signed here to stay here.
“I want to say a big thank-you to the chairman and the manager for putting their faith in me. It’s been a long stay here but a very enjoyable one, I’m fully enjoying it.
“This is my second home now and I’m happy to commit my future to Tottenham Hotspur. I love the club, it’s welcomed me with open arms and I have to say thanks to the fans as well, they’ve been fantastic to me. Now we as players have to drive this club to where we should be and where we know we can be.”
Walker has started all five of Spurs’ Premier League games so far this season, as well as the Champions League defeat to AS Monaco.
With his new deal, it appears as though he is set to be the club’s first-choice right-back for the foreseeable future.
