England have called up West Brom’s Jake Livemore and Sunderland’s Jermain Defoe.
England’s Kyle Walker in action
Tottenham defender Kyle Walker has taken to Twitter after Jake Livermore and Jermain Defoe were both named in the England squad.
With the international break coming up, England boss Gareth Southgate has named his first squad since becoming permanent Three Lions boss – with a couple of surprises in his side.
Southampton duo James Ward-Prowse and Nathan Redmond have both been called up, whilst left back Luke Shaw is in the squad despite barely featuring for Manchester United of late.
However, the big talking points concern Jake Livermore and Jermain Defoe, who have both been named in the squad after extended absences from the squad.
Midfielder Livermore impressed for Hull City earlier this season before making a January move to West Bromwich Albion, and whilst he has enjoyed a solid campaign, many believe Livemore isn’t quite good enough for England.
Conversely, the inclusion of striker Defoe has largely been met with delight from England fans. He may be 34 now, but Defoe continues to be a consistent Premier League goalscorer, with 14 to his name this season after an 18-goal campaign last term.

With injuries to the likes of Harry Kane, Wayne Rooney and Daniel Sturridge, Defoe has been handed an overdue recall to the England squad to take on Germany and Lithuania this month.
Now, England and Tottenham defender Kyle Walker has taken to Twitter to admit his delight at being called up, and having been reunited with his former Spurs team-mates Livermore and Defoe.
