Tottenham Hotspur have a number of exciting youngsters coming through the ranks at White Hart Lane, and one has certainly impressed Walker.
Tottenham’s Kyle Walker
Kyle Walker has told the Daily Mail that Tottenham youngster Kyle Walker-Peters has stood out in training whenever he has been given the chance to work with the first-team and has deserved the new contract that he has recently signed at White Hart Lane.
The 19-year-old is just one of a number of youngsters that are looking to put some pressure on the first-team, and he has been rewarded for his fine form in the youth side by being handed a new deal with Spurs that is set to keep him at the club until 2019 (via Mail).
And his senior teammate – who not only almost shares a name with the teenager, but is holding down the full-back position that Walker-Peters will be targeting in the coming years – has been full of praise for the prospect.
Kyle Walker-Peters
“I speak to Kyle on a daily basis, he’s always asking questions,” he told the Mail.
“He’s been fantastic playing in the reserves and whenever he’s trained with us he’s stood out to be honest. He deserves his new contract.”
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino
One of the arguments that Tottenham’s critics have levelled at them this term is that while their strongest side is arguably as good as any other team in the division, they perhaps do not have the depth to put together a real title challenge.
But with players like Walker-Peters – who is still awaiting the chance to make his first-team debut, but has been on the bench on a couple of occasions – pushing for an opportunity and seemingly demonstrating to Mauricio Pochettino in training that he will soon be ready to contribute to the senior side, it may not be too long before they have the kind of depth that convinces their doubters about their title credentials.
