Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to beat Gent n the Europa League on Thursday.
Tottenham’s Kyle Walker looks dejected
Tottenham Hotspur defender Kyle Walker has told The Mirror that he thinks Spurs have the perfect team – but has disclosed details on changes to Mauricio Pochettino’s training plans.
Spurs beat Fulham 3-0 in the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon, with Harry Kane bagging a hat-trick to send Pochettino’s men into the quarter-finals of the competition and get Spurs back to winning ways.
In the two games before facing Fulham, Tottenham lost 2-0 at Liverpool in a disappointing performance at Anfield, and were then beaten 1-0 by Gent in the Europa League.
Ahead of Thursday’s return leg against Gent at Wembley, Tottenham’s European campaign hangs by a thread, but Pochettino will be hoping that Sunday’s win over Fulham can get Spurs back on track.
Now, Tottenham full back Kyle Walker has offered an insight into the club’s training sessions, and how manager Pochettino has altered preparations amid some poor displays.
Walker has told The Mirror that Pochettino has made ‘a few tweaks’ to his plans, as Spurs no longer train every day and the Argentinian doesn’t demand quite as much out of his players anymore, allowing greater recovery.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino applauds fans
Walker added that expectations have risen at White Hart Lane since his arrival from Sheffield United back in 2009, but suggested that Tottenham’s team is now ‘perfect’, with something special just around the corner for this exciting Spurs side.
“The manager has made a few tweaks which I think have helped us recover a lot faster,” said Walker. “He’s cut down on some of the training sessions. We don’t train every day now and he does not demand as much as he used to.”
“When I first came in it was, ‘We might get Champions League, we might not.’ “But now we have turned that corner and we want more. I feel the team we have now is perfect. We have got the players and the manager to go and do something special,” he added.
