Glasgow Rangers man Kyle Lafferty has been struggling since returning to Ibrox.

Kyle lafferty of Rangers celebrates winning over Celtic during the Co-operative Insurance Cup final between at Hampden Park on March 20, 2011 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Kyle Lafferty has told The Glasgow Evening Times that Rangers fans can expect a strong end to the season from him.

Lafferty came off the bench to score the last goal in a 5-0 drubbing of Hamilton on Sunday.

In doing so, the Northern Ireland international scored his first Premiership goal since way back in September.

The 31-year-old striker netted 12 in the Premiership for Hearts last season, and seven of those were scored in February or later.

But although Lafferty admits that he’s low on confidence, the big hitman hopes that he can enjoy a goal-laden end to what has been a disappointing first season back at Ibrox.

He told The Glasgow Evening Times: “It does seem like I come alive in the last two months of the season.

“I honestly don’t know why, but you win trophies at the back end of the campaign and that’s when goals matter.

Alfredo Morelos of Rangers Cedric Kipre of Motherwell during the Betfred Cup Semi Final at Hampden Park on October 22, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

“I’m low in confidence, obviously going through a difficult spell, but I’m still working hard in training and the only way to repay the manager is to score goals.”

Jermain Defoe’s arrival to Rangers in January must’ve deflated Lafferty, who was already playing second fiddle to Alfredo Morelos prior to the Englishman’s arrival.

He is now Steven Gerrard’s third-choice striker, but he’s a different option to Morelos and Defoe and therefore he can still be a big, big player for the Gers during the final few months.

Lafferty offers something that his team-mates don’t have – primarily height – and time will tell whether he gets chances to utilise it under Gerrard.
