Kyle Lafferty has not been great for Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers so far this season.

Rangers have signed Jermain Defoe on loan from Bournemouth in the January transfer window, and manager Steven Gerrard has also taken Ryan Hardie to Tenerife.
Alfredo Morelos is the first-choice striker at Rangers at the moment, and there is no disputing the fact that the Colombian international will lead the line for the Gers for now.
Given his experience and quality, Defoe is going to push and challenge Morelos, and if Hardie stays at Ibrox for the second half of the season instead of going on loan to Livingston, then it is going to be hard for Kyle Lafferty to get much playing time this season.
The 31-year-old forward – who joined Rangers from Heart of Midlothian in the summer transfer window for a fee reported by The Glasgow Evening Times to be worth £500,000 – has scored just four goals and provided one assist in 17 Scottish Premiership appearances for the Gers so far this season, according to Transfermarkt.com.
Lafferty has been struggling to challenge Morelos, and with Defoe now signing, the Northern Ireland international has his work cut out.
There is no doubt that the former Burnley forward has quality, but it is time for the 31-year-old to step up and show Rangers manager Steven Gerrard what he is capable of.
