Leeds United signed three players on loan from Swansea City this season, with only one working out to be a success.

Matt Grimes and Modou Barrow failed to establish themselves in the first team, while Kyle Bartley had no such troubles.

The centre-back struck up a superb partnership in central defence alongside Pontus Jansson and has been a crucial part of their success.

Bartley’s future at the club remains unclear, especially with Swansea City themselves facing potential relegation from the Premier League.

There is certainly a strong chance he signs permanently, and most importantly of all his mum certainly wouldn’t mind him doing so.

She sent a message on Twitter after the club’s last game of the season, thanking supporters.

The first step in bring Bartley back to Leeds is renewing head coach Garry Monk’s contract.

Monk confirmed to BBC Radio Leeds yesterday that initial talks have been held over extending his deal.

The pair first worked together at Swansea and have been terrific at Leeds, and anchoring them both down to long term contracts is key to the club’s future success.
