Leeds United came from behind to claim a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town at Portman Road.

Kyle Bartley has suggested that while Leeds were looking for the three points from their Championship clash with Ipswich, they will probably go on to reflect positively on the draw at Portman Road, the Yorkshire Evening Post reports.

Despite going into the game off the back of a win over Bristol City, the Whites had been going through a rocky patch in recent weeks having lost four times since the incredibly impressive victory over Derby in January.

And they arguably gave their supporters little to be optimistic about as they struggled against the Tractor Boys and had to come from behind to claim a point, losing further ground to the sides above them in the Championship table.

But Bartley has suggested that given how well Ipswich have played lately, in conjunction with the poor Portman Road pitch, the draw may be looked back upon more favourably in time.

“I think before the game you go to Ipswich wanting the three points,” he said, as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“But, as the game progresses, we realised it’s a tough game. It’s a tough place and the manager there has got the team really well set up and I think a lot of teams will go there and struggle.

“In the end, I think we look back and think of it as a good point.”

Should Leeds go on to finish inside the top six, then while the performances against the likes of Derby and Reading will be the ones that give them confidence in the play-offs, it will arguably be the points that they have picked up during this period that the fans will reflect upon as being crucial.

Garry Monk’s men have struggled recently, and yet have still taken 10 points out of a possible 21 from their last seven league games.

It is certainly not promotion-winning form, but it is arguably the kind of point collecting that they need to do when not at their best if they hope to stay in contention to reach the play-offs.
