West Bromwich Albion are expected to gain promotion back to the Premier League this term.
West Brom defender Kyle Bartley spoke exclusively to the Express & Star, and outlined the importance of making the Hawthorns a fortress this season.
The Baggies have made a decent, if not impressive, start to their 2018/19 campaign, having taken 10 points from their opening six league outings, and they currently sit one point adrift of the play-off spots.
Darren Moore’s men are much fancied to gain promotion back to the Premier League this season, but it is clearly evident that they will not have things all their own way.
Bartley, who joined the Baggies in the summer, highlighted how he and his teammates need to make the Hawthorns a fortress this term, if they are to regain their top flight status, as quoted by the Express & Star:
“As long as we keep winning we won’t be too fussed but it is important for us to start keeping clean sheets especially at home. As a defender that’s something that’s important to me. We’ve got to make this place a fortress. That is pivotal in this league. We know teams are going to come here and almost be afraid of us if we keep playing the way we are.”
Next up for the Baggies is a trip to St Andrews to take on Birmingham City on September 14th, and Bartley and co will be hoping to take their recent good form into the clash against Garry Monk’s men.
