It has been suggested that Monk is already fighting for his future with the Championship club.

Kyle Bartley has told LUTV (via Leeds United’s official Twitter account) that Leeds have one of the best managers in the Championship in Garry Monk, and suggested that speculation surrounding his future is ridiculous.
The former Swansea boss was only appointed at Elland Road during the summer, but given Whites owner Massimo Cellino’s willingness to abruptly sack his managers coupled with the club’s poor start to the season, it was hardly surprising that the Yorkshire Evening Post suggested that Monk was already under pressure to save his job.

But some of the gloom surrounding the Peacocks has lifted in recent days after their first home win of the season lifted them out of the bottom three, and the general performance hinted that the club may be heading in the right direction.
But Bartley – who bagged the late winner against Blackburn on Tuesday – has suggested that any talk of Monk battling to save his job is well wide of the mark, and insisted that he is the right man to take them forward.

“I think there’s been a lot of negative stuff said in the press about the team, and especially about the manager, which I think is absolute madness,” he told LUTV (via club’s official Twitter account).
“I think we’ve got one of, if not the best managers in the league and for the press to be putting pressure on him, I think it’s crazy.
“But obviously the three points always helps and hopefully we can shut up a few of the doubters.”

Given Monk’s top flight experience, it would surely be a big mistake for Cellino to even consider letting him go, especially after the promising display against Rovers, who, admittedly, are bottom of the table and without a win all season.
But Bartley’s loyalty to the manager certainly hints that at least the majority of the players are fully behind Monk, and are determined, after being written off by some, to prove that their slow start to the campaign will ultimately benefit them in the long run.
