Napoli superstar Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has lauded fellow teammate Kim-Min jae after his strong to the season with the Italian giants, with Tottenham reportedly interested in signing the defender.

Speaking to Serie A’s official YouTube channel, the Georgian international was full of praise for the 25-year-old centre-back, with Kvaratskhelia even going as far as to label Kim as one of the best defenders in the world following the South Korean’s move to Italy in the summer.

Kim and Kvaratskhelia both joined Napoli earlier this year to replace key players in Kalidou Koulibaly and Lorenzo Insigne, and it’s safe to say that the pair have been nothing short of revolutionary, with the Italian side an incredible 11 points clear at the top of the Serie A standings.

As a result, both players are now already linked with major moves way from Napoli, with Kim wanted by Tottenham as reported by CalcioMercato as English clubs look to sign the centre-back next summer, where the defender’s £40m release clause becomes active.

With Napoli now eager to renew the defender’s contract, Kim’s impact at the club is noticeable for all to see. And according to Kvaratskhelia, the Tottenham target is, in his eyes, one of the best centre-backs currently playing in European football.

Kvaratskhelia said about Kim: “He is a very strong defender. For me, he is one of the best in the world. If he is in the defence, you are in front of an iron barrel! You know he will stop the attacker and will not let the opponents score. This is why he is an extraordinary defender, which is why he is one of the best in the world.”

Tottenham must do all they can to sign Kim after high praise

All signs at the moment seem to point towards Tottenham signing a top centre-back in 2023, and Kim could be the perfect player for Antionio Conte’s side if Napoli fail to tie the defender down to a new contract. And Kvaratskhelia’s latest comments should only push Spurs to make a move.

After all, Kim’s performances for Napoli have been spectacular, with the Serie A side hardly feeling the absence of Koulibaly following the defender’s move to Chelsea. And for Tottenham, the north London side must do all they can to sign the South Korean in 2023.
