West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur’s London battle could only be settled with a point on Tuesday night.
A lot was riding on the game at the London Stadium, with European football on the table, along with the all-important bragging rights.
Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham pounced on the Hammers’ recent fragilities against Newcastle United by opening the scoring after just five minutes through Brennan Johnson.
It was a very fast start from the away side, before Kurt Zouma equalised for West Ham with his goal coming off his back following a corner.
Zouma stated that it was a ‘very intense’ game between the two, but the reaction from his team to falling behind was ‘spot on’, as he told TNT Sports.
The West Ham defender added Tottenham ‘weren’t that dangerous’ after they scored because his team took their time to get to grips with the game.
There were openings throughout the match, but you have to admit that the draw was probably the right result.
Zouma touched open his side’s performance, as well as how they coped with a Spurs team that like to play ultra-attacking football.
West Ham United 1-1 Tottenham Hotspur
“Very intense game, both teams wanted to win,” said Zouma.
“After the first goal, we knew that we could come back. The reaction was spot on, that was a good game to watch, but unfortunately, we couldn’t get the win. It’s good for the confidence.
“We know Tottenham. They have a lot of rotations. They attack with six people. We had to counter that. It took a bit of time for us to get it right, as soon as we got it right, they weren’t that dangerous after that.”

Who will be the happier – West Ham or Tottenham?
Given that West Ham won the reverse fixture and now took a point here, it wouldn’t be a surprise if it’s David Moyes’ side who are the happier.
Four points against your rivals is a positive and it also keeps alive their hopes of securing European football.
The Hammers are still sitting seventh in the Premier League table, but everyone else behind them have game(s) in hand.
One of them includes tenth-placed Wolves, who are three points behind, and will host West Ham at the weekend after their 1-1 draw against Burnley.
