Celtic youngster Kundai Benyu has left on loan after a difficult spell at Parkhead.
Celtic youngster Kundai Benyu has told Helsingsborgs’ official YouTube channel that Mikael Lustig suggested that he should jump at the chance to make the loan switch to the Swedish club.
Benyu will be in Sweden until January 2020, according to Sky Sports, having left the Hoops after a difficult spell at Parkhead. He has not played for the Bhoys this season and has only made two appearances for the club in all competitions since his arrival in 2017.
He will be hoping to make the kind of impression during his time away that leaves him in a better position upon his return to Celtic next year. And after completing his move, he suggested that one person at Parkhead certainly thinks that it is a good step for him.
“My teammate at Celtic, Mikael Lustig, told me that Helsinborgs is a big club and he told me that it’s a good opportunity so I when I found out about it, I was wanting to go from the minute I heard about it,” he told the club’s YouTube channel.
It does appear that Benyu does have a huge uphill battle trying to force his way into the Celtic team in the future. He will be 22 years of age by the time that he returns to his parent club, so he could be running out of time to prove that he will good enough for the club in the coming years.
And with players such Ewan Henderson jumping ahead of him in the pecking order – the teenager was outstanding in the weekend win at home to Motherwell – it seems that Benyu will have to enjoy an incredible loan spell if he wants to stand a chance of making the grade at Celtic.
