According to The Daily Star, Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke has decided to hand Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang a new contract.

Aubameyang, who is one of the best strikers in the world, is out of contract at Arsenal at the end of next season.

It has been reported that Arsenal owner Kroenke has sanctioned a new three-year contract for the Gabon international worth £250,000 per week.

Talks have been held with the former Borussia Dortmund star’s representatives, and the Gunners have made the decision to keep the 31-year-old on a big contract, according to the report.

Sensible plan

Aubameyang is arguably the best player on the books of Arsenal at the moment, and the striker underlined his importance to the team yet again at the weekend when he scored both goals in their 2-1 victory over Chelsea in the FA Cup final.

While £250,000 per week for a 31-year-old sounds a lot, the fact of the matter is that the former Saint-Etienne star deserves it given how big a player he is.

Following the FA Cup final against Chelsea on Saturday evening, Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta raved about the striker, stating that he proved that he is a big-game player.

Arteta told Arsenal’s official website about Aubameyang: “Big games require big moments from big players, and he’s delivered that in the semi-final and he’s done it again in the final.

“That’s why you ask about those players. Some were questioning that he couldn’t do it in big games. There we go.

“He was a big, big part of delivering this trophy. He’s done it and we are so proud to have a player like him in your squad.”
