Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer has told The Scottish Sun that he has proved that he is good enough to play in the Scottish Premiership.

Ajer officially switched to the Bhoys in the summer of 2016 after agreeing on a contract in February 2016.

The 18-year-old defender was sent out on loan to Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock in the January transfer window.

The Norway Under-19 international failed to make a single appearance in the Scottish Premiership for the Hoops before his loan move to Kilmarnock.

Ajer has claimed that he has proved himself in the Scottish Premiership.

“Since I went to Scotland, I have changed positions and now play at the back as a central defender,” Ajer told The Scottish Sun.

“I feel much better prepared than when I arrived and I think I have proved I am good enough for this league.”

Ajer is a talented and promising young footballer, and his progress at Kilmarnock has been encouraging.

The Norwegian defender is very young and is still progressing, and he could find it tough to break into the Celtic first team next season.

What the 18-year-old needs to do is work hard in pre-season and impress manager Brendan Rodgers.

Rodgers showed during his time at Liverpool that he is open to giving chances to talented, young footballers, and he should take note of Ajer’s comments.
