Ajer has barely featured under Bhoys boss Brendan Rodgers and is set to leave Celtic Park in January. Could Leeds United, Queens Park Rangers or Barnsley be the defender’s next stop?
Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer expects to join an English Championship side on loan next month – could any of the following clubs be putting in calls to Parkhead?
Queens Park Rangers
Ian Holloway will be keen to out his own stamp on side he inherited from Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink last month, and with a limited budget someone like Ajer is likely to fit the mould. QPR director of football Les Ferdinand was pictured speaking to Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers at a recent Swindon Town fixture – could a deal have already been discussed?

The Tykes lost Alfie Mawson to Swansea City in August and the signing of Cole Kpekawa has not really worked out. Marc Roberts has also been linked with Premier League moves in recent weeks, so another defensive body could appeal to Barnsley boss Paul Heckingbottom. Ajer’s Bhoys teammate Saidy Janko already plays for the Yorkshire side on loan.

Former Rodgers player Garry Monk is keen to add a fourth centre-back and Ajer could be ideal from the Leeds head coach’s perspective. From a Celtic point of view, though, the Norwegian’s slim chances of first team football (the Whites already have Kyle Bartley, Pontus Jannson and Liam Cooper) may act as a deterrent.
Would Ajer be a good signing for Leeds United/QPR/Barnsley?
